MakePretend Interview

The wonderful collab duo of Anna Arbuckle and Nate Turner have launched their first in what looks to be an awesome series of interviews. Stay tuned for more and have a look see when time permits! The first is an exchange between Photographer KT Auleta and the founder of clothing label VPL, Victoria Bartlett.

The Same Conversation

A series of short films that bring together two different people to play out the same conversation. This series explores the myriad possibilities that can come from such a formula. I’m enjoying the sheer absurdity of each piece. Brought to you by Jorge Lopez Navarette.

Galya Kay

Some really nice motion typographic work coming from this lady. It is a rarity these days to see some motion with some nicely placed typography as well as a real sense of the handmade. Have a look see when you get a chance. Ms. Galya Kay.

Fun and brilliant are two words that thoroughly describe the work of Johnny Kelly. His video on procrastination, truth. Check it out. Here as well.

Jon Sueda

Interesting write up and video discussion with designer Jon Sueda. Brings up some interesting points. I’m wondering if everybody is lucky enough to avoid commercial clients? Have a look see when you can.

Anatomy of a Murder

Anatomy of a Murder. Been browsing some nice graphic title sequences in this collection here. Will post a few of these occasionally for you all to enjoy on a nice winters day…..

Papyrus

avatar

The infamous typeface that has been dominating the arts and crafts/ethnic food market for years, has taken another victim this year. James Cameron’s highly anticipated feature film Avatar, has succumb to Papyrus’ unescapable advances. It is quite clear that Cameron’s well was running dry of the film’s projected $200 million+ budget when it came time to hire a competent graphic designer. Sadly, all of the outer glow in the world that cannot save yet another usage of the wonderfully atrocious Papyrus. I conclude this post with a personal favorite found on Papyrus Watch.
