“I have always admired the noble austerity of the polar bear and how the species has adapted and thrived in the harshest of conditions. They are a testament to the amazing vigor and robustness of life on this planet. So it is with deep sadness to hear that this creature that has thrived for millennia in the most spartan of environments is being done in by the manmade effects of global warming.

The monumental problems facing the world today can be overwhelming, even crushing. Adaptation seems impossible when you’re alone on a solitary patch of ice and the world has come apart around you.

There is a way forward. But many days, I feel like the polar bear.”
