Update – London: the Brand, I See London




As was noted earlier, the Mayor of London has officially decided that the city needs re-branding. The goal is to have a logo within just seven weeks and with no pitch fee. I think the Mayor might be a little jealous of the folks down in Melbourne and there is probably some royal disdain fueling this move. London has a lot of different identity marks that are actually really lovely and memorable. I think the difficult part is going to be designing just one logo that encompasses the look and feel of all the marks…and being able to create a family of logos that can be used in different governmental departments.

As long as London’s identity development doesn’t become another crowd-sourcing project I’ll be happy. The talented studio of Moving Brands has opened up to the public to ask for suggestions for their pitch. Here are a few that stood out to me.
